Plastic termination boxes, which are larger and designed for outdoor environments, can accommodate PLC splitters, LGX splitters, and CWDM/DWDM configurations (ABS box type). This versatility allows plastic termination boxes to function not only as distribution points but also as optical division units. Typically, for fiber counts of fewer than 12 cores, mini-type splitters are used, while configurations with over 24 cores may utilize either box-type or mini-type splitters or CWDMs. The sizes of the 2, 4, and 6 core boxes are generally similar. In contrast, desk boxes are primarily intended for indoor use, providing convenience for residents moving into new homes by facilitating easy fiber access. The core configurations for desk boxes typically include 1, 2, or 4 cores, and the material used is ABS+PC, ensuring durability and reliability.
